Enduro World Championship 2011 – Round 8 MENDE, FRANCE, 1/2.10.2011

Husqvarna & Salminen – Enduro 1 World Champions
Finnish enduro star Juha Salminen secures Enduro 1 world title at final EWC event of ’11.
Husqvarna CH Racing Monster Energy Team rider Juha Salminen has been crowned Enduro 1 world champion, placing his TE 250 on the top step of the E1 class podium on the first day’s competition at the final round of the ’11 series, the GP of France.
In finishing first on day one and a close runner-up on day two Salminen ends the year with an amazing 10 wins to his credit having officially become the most successful enduro rider of all time having secured a record-breaking eight individual class world championships.
Following team-mate Antoine Meo’s crowning as Enduro 2 World Champion for Husqvarna at the penultimate round of the EWC series in Andorra Salminen’s championship success brings Husqvarna’s participation in the ’11 EWC series to a triumphant close. Starting the year as defending champions in the Enduro 1 class, Husqvarna’s goal of securing both the E1 and E2 titles has seen both Salminen and Meo establish themselves as the dominant riders in their respective classes.
For Salminen victory on day one was the perfect way to secure the Enduro 1 world title. Claiming an eventual 18-second winning margin over countryman Eero Remes, Juha once again proved his superiority in the Enduro 1 class aboard Husqvarna’s TE 250. A little slow to get up to his usual race winning speed on day two Salminen had to give his all in order to catch early class leader Rodrig Thain. Closing to within five seconds of the Frenchman an uncharacteristic mistake from Salminen on the day’s final special test saw him finish second. Despite having wanted to end the season with a double victory Salminen’s performances throughout ’11 see him end the year as the world’s greatest enduro rider.
Matti Seistola endured a tough GP of France, crashing heavily during the Friday night Super Test. Ending the first day just one position from the podium, Matti made too many mistakes during the second day to challenge for the top three places. Nevertheless, Seistola delivered a super season aboard his TE 250, showing himself as one of only a handful of riders capable of challenging for podium positions. Completing a superb Enduro 1 campaign for Husqvarna Matti ends the year third in the class points standings.
Juha Salminen – Enduro 1: ‘It’s a great feeling to have won another world title, and to be a part of what has been a fantastic season for Husqvarna. I knew that my bike would be good this year but from my side there were still a lot of question marks regarding whether I would be able to win again. But when I won the first races of the season the only goal I had was to become world champion again. It’s been a fantastic season and apart from one small problem in Andorra everything has gone perfectly. I really wanted to win the title with a victory, which I did and I’m very happy with that. Everyone in the team has put in a huge amount of effort this year and that’s been rewarded with two world titles. It’s been a fantastic season and it feels great to be world champion again.’
With the Enduro 2 World Championship title already his the GP of France was Antoine Meo’s chance to take things a little easy after a near faultless season. Enjoying being able to spend time celebrating with his French fans during the final race of the EWC season, Meo finished just under nine seconds from the top of the podium on day one before claiming his eighth day win of the year by topping the E2 results on day two. As a rider brought into enduro by Husqvarna, in winning his second consecutive championship with the Husqvarna CH Racing Monster Energy Team Antoine’s continued impressive results were the catalyst for a weekend of celebrations within the team.
Antoine Meo – Enduro 2: ‘To win the Enduro 2 World Championship is incredible. Winning last year in E1 was a dream result for me but together with Husqvarna we have moved to a different class and won the championship immediately. I can’t ask for any more from the team – the support they have given me has been fantastic. When I changed bikes we spent a lot of time testing during the winter to reach a good setting and when we arrived in Spain we showed just how competitive we were with two wins. From there we went on to take seven race wins this year with 14 podiums. It’s been an incredible season, one that I will remember always.’
Ensuring Husqvarna’s celebrations weren’t restricted to just their Enduro 1 and Enduro 2 class successes Enduro 3 class rider Alex Salvini gave much reason to be happy as he rounded out his first year of full-time EWC participation with a double runner-up result. In securing his best results of the season Salvini proved himself as one of the most talented newcomers in the EWC.

The Husqvarna motorcycles are equipped with CHT Chiaravalli front and rear sprockets and RK Takasago chains.

EN: Salminen & Meo win big at GP of Greece

Husqvarna CH Racing Monster Energy Team
Enduro World Championship 2011 – Round 5 – KALAMPAKA, GREECE, 17/18/19.6.2011

Enduro 1 and Enduro 2 series leaders Juha Salminen and Antoine Meo again claim double class wins to extend their world championship advantages
By any rider’s reckoning the GP of Greece, round five of the ’11 Enduro World Championship, was tough. With 35-40 degree heat during both days of competition, more than one-hour of special test racing each day, and a minimum of 14 hours in the saddle, for all but the very best simply getting to the end of the event was an achievement in itself. But for the Husqvarna CH Racing Monster Energy Team the GP of Greece was largely a hugely successful event. Doing what they’ve done since the start of the championship Juha Salminen and Antoine Meo took charge of their respective classes, both claiming victory on each of the two days. Matti Seistola again placed as runner-up to team-mate Salminen in the Enduro 1 class on day two after a third place finish on day one while Simone Albergoni secured his first podium result of the season with a third place Enduro 2 class finish on day one. As the ’11 EWC season moves into its second half things are looking good for the Husqvarna CH Racing Monster Energy Team.
Despite feeling less than 100 per cent during the first half of the opening day’s competition in Kalampaka, seven-time World Champion Juha Salminen improved as the day progressed, eventually claiming a 20 winning advantage. Simply not able to perform at his best Salminen stuck at it and by mid-day was winning tests and had moved to the top of the E1 class. Remaining out front Juha placed ahead of Frenchman Rodrig Thain. Although fast on both the motocross and enduro special tests Matti Seistola was unable to challenge for a better result than third due to difficulties on the extreme test. Losing time on the rocky test on all three laps Matti had to settle for third, less than 30 seconds behind winner Salminen.

On day two the Enduro 1 class was all about Husqvarna team mates Salminen and Seistola. Trading special test wins with one another it was consistent riding from Salminen, and a costly mistake from Seistola, that ultimately decided the eventual finishing order in Salminen’s favour. With Matti crashing on the final enduro test victory was handed to Salminen who despite Seistola’s speed had remained in control at the front of the class throughout the day. Seistola claimed a deserved runner-up result, but finished only a fraction of a second up on third placed Eero Remes.
With Salminen comfortably leading the Enduro 1 World Championship on 239 points, Seistola moves into second on 198, tied with countryman Remes.

Securing his fifth and sixth Enduro 2 class wins of the ’11 EWC season Antoine Meo’s event in Greece started with a collision with a tree during the Friday night Super Test, something that left him feeling a little sore at the start of the first full day of competition. Needing all of the first half of the day to find his feet, Antoine went on to claim a 22-second winning advantage after winning all three special test on the final lap. Joining Meo on the podium was his E2 class team-mate Simone Albergoni. Riding well but also fortunate that a number of E2 class front runners encountered mechanical problems, Albergoni’s trip to the podium was his first in ’11.
Although riding well on day two it wasn’t until the final lap that Antoine Meo moved into the lead of the Enduro 2 class. Spaniard Cristobal Guerrero held the top spot from the start but mistakes towards the end of the day, coinciding with Meo’s push for victory, saw him drop behind the E2 championship leader. Topping the event’s final enduro test and extreme test Antoine opened up an eventual eight-second winning margin to further extend his lead at the top of the Enduro 2 World Championship standings.
With five rounds completed Antoine has 232 points at the top of the Enduro 2 class while his closest rival Guerrero has 183. Simone Albergoni currently sits fifth on 140.

The Husqvarna CH Racing motorcycles are equipped with CHTChiaravalli sprockets and RK Takasago chians.

HEAT OF VALKENSWAARD!

The 2nd round of the FIM Motocross World Championship came back on the heavy sand of Valkenswaard, one of the toughest tracks for all the GP riders and, the heat of the weather made it even more difficult this time in Holland in front of the glare of 35.000 spectators. All the 3 riders took important points in both motos of the two classes MX1 and MX2 and ended the day on a positive note for the future. The young finn Harri KULLAS was the best scorer of the GP for the team on a very competitive YZ250F factory, with two very consistent motos and finishing 7th in both of them and 7th in the overall classification of the day ! French Christophe CHARLIER was trying to get back to his form after minor injuries which again mined his health before this GP and could manage to finish an overall 11th of the day and he is now 10th in the World Championship classification. He showed some bites of his class in the second heat when 3rd for most of the race and signed the 3rd best laptime. In the MX1 class Anthony BOISSIERE scored a 13th and 15th in the two motos, still looking for his best form and he is now placed in the top 15 of the championship.

The Yamaha Monster Energy Gariboldi motorcycles are equipped with RK Racing chains, CHT CHiaravalli sprockets and Excel rims.
